Platform perfect. Choosing the right email marketing platform for your business.

Email marketing is dead.

Well, that's what some people would try to make you believe. However, we know the opposite is true. Email marketing is not only going strong, it’s growing (and growing).

Don’t believe us? Take a minute to consider these stats:

  • For every $1 you spend on email marketing, you can expect (on average) a return of $42!

  • Sending 3 abandoned cart emails leads to 69% more orders than one, single email.

  • By 2025, global email users are expected to grow to 4.6 billion.

Even though the benefits of email marketing clearly speak for themselves, it is a task which can take a little time and effort. And the best way to reduce this impact on your business is to use an email marketing platform which will manage all the nitty gritty.

But, I hear you ask: how do I choose the right platform for my business? Well, let’s go through it together.

  • Price is NOT everything. As is usually the case with these things, the free option is not always the best one. If you’re trying to save time and money, you need to think big picture and consider all the time-saving features which are included when you’re prepared to spend a bit of money.

  • Contact is key. One of the clear benefits of email marketing is the natural connection you’re able to make with your customers. Therefore, you must ensure you have a platform which supports it. When you’re choosing your email marketing platform, we would strongly suggest looking for one which will store your contacts, allow you to add and update manually, and to import from other lists and systems.

  • Get up close and personal. Given you can really connect with your customers through content, email marketing can help you reeeeeeeally connect with exactly the perfect customers. Platforms which support tagging and segmenting allow you to use the information you gain about their actions when they receive your emails, to guide which content they receive the next time. This is a benefit you MUST take advantage of.

  • Plan the customer journey. A truly effective email marketing strategy is one which creates a killer customer journey. Essentially these are personalised and targeted emails to your audience, created using the data you’ve captured from your customers. A great customer journey will know what your customer is interested in, what they already know and where they’re looking to go next.

  • Integration is everything. We all know that being a business owner is hard enough so finding ways to make your life easier is super important. If you can find a platform that plays nice with the other platforms you’re working with, you’ll be forever grateful.

  • Allow room to grow. Yes, you may be just starting out right now but that won’t always be the case. In a few years time, when your business has started to flourish, you’ll want that same email marketing platform to still be working for you.

Email marketing is a critical part of a well thought out business marketing strategy. However, we’re well aware that in the world of small business, staying across all the things can seem totally daunting.
